Day 1
A 90s Ralph Lauren Themed Welcome Dinner
Tatum & Farouk’s welcome party fell on the Fourth of July, and they went all-in on the elevated camp vibe that is so quintessentially Cedar Lakes Estate. The design prompt we received from Nicole at Wander Event Design was — “90s Ralph Lauren meets safari, so lots of khaki, but in the chicest way you can imagine.” We talked about creating a jungle-like atmosphere without tropicals, the design inspired by the groom’s New Zealand roots, where temperate rainforests host plants like ferns and soft moss.
In order to eliminate waste, we created tablescapes that were 95% potted plants and moss, with only touches of hardy, on-theme flowers like gloriosa lillies, various sarracenia, and Schuberti alliums. This meant that these installations were enjoyed all weekend — we absolutely love it when our flowers can be repurposed so naturally. After the wedding, our partners at Groundcycle repotted every plant and partnered with a local coffee shop in Brooklyn to re-home them. Little pieces of T & F’s epic weekend live on in the homes of so many neighbors.

Day 2
A Timeless Summer Wedding feat. Locally-grown Flowers & Plants
Wedding day was an opportunity to play within a classic white-and-green, pastel-tinged palette without creating work that looked like other classic white-and-green, pastel-tinged weddings. We spent the week actively sourcing from our local nurseries, farms, and wholesale flower market to find the most ideal combination of textures & colors. So much thought went into this process, including many ongoing conversations with our farmer friends, who watched their fields under the intensifying summer heat, giving us updates along the way. My favorite aspect of this one is that we found every flower that reminded us of fireworks and brought them all together to create something hyper-local, which rooted their wedding day in time & place. This, to us, is a quintessential July wedding in New York state.
